Put your messages where the people are
I've been doing a lot of consulting work with Salem area business to get them up to speed on using social media to promote their products, services and customers. Once we get through all the techie-talk, the next question is always, "Now what do I write about?"
Content is king on the internet, and social media uses communities of users to create the content through interaction. I find that the best way to describe how to create great content is to show these clients and members some great examples.
We often talk about who makes an ideal client, what people are asking for when they pick up the phone to call you, and how you are positioning yourself against competitors, direct or indirect. One of my favorite content recommendations is to focus on your customers. Tell stories about the challenges they were facing when they called you. Share their testimonials, their photos, and the reason your solution worked so well. The exercise of writing content like this is a natural way to include "keyword-rich" content. Keywords are common search terms on sites like Google and Bing.
